Most small business owners and employees I talk with don't feel like protecting their mobile phones is very important until I share how often bad actors capture information from their phones and use that data to breach other aspects of their lives. Here are three things you should always do to help protect your phone. Always be sure to use a PIN number with a minimum of six digits or a password or fingerprint or even facial recognition to allow access to your phone. If you don't have at least one of those protections, your phone is on easy access for any of the data you use day to day to be compromised. Next, be sure to keep your phone operating system and all of your apps updated regularly since updates come out frequently and are necessary. You should also periodically review your apps and remove any that you no longer use. Lastly, you should turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when it's not in use. You should also frequently review the Wi-Fi you allow your phone to connect to automatically and turn off the auto-connect on any you don't use. This basic guidance will make you a lot more personally secure.
