While you're enjoying the 4th of July holiday, please remember to keep your guard up. Historically, some of the biggest time periods for ransomware attacks occurred during long holiday weekends. If you are working from home at any time and not just on holiday weekends, and you're using a personal device such as a smartphone or personal laptop to log into your company's own cloud applications. Please stop. Unless your personal device is covered under one of your IT Service provider's manage security plans, you could be accidentally introducing a virus or a hacker into your company's network. Remember, data in the cloud is just as vulnerable as data at your office. In fact, 59% of ransomware incidents where the data was successfully encrypted involve data in the public cloud. The cloud is where the attacker stole the data and where they store it waiting for ransom payments.
